BODFRIGAN

Bodfrigan is registered housing cooperative. Currently our members are residents of Lodge Park, a property in Tre'r ddol, Mid Wales. Bodfrigan exists to provide community owned housing, that is economically secure, socially diverse and ecologically sustainable. Bodfrigan is hoping to purchase the freehold of Lodge Park, which is still currently owned privately and used to be part of the vast Gogerddan Estate. It is our intention to have a mixture of long lease holds and some fully mutual cooperative ownership. We hope to convert Lodge Park from mansion served by the local community into a community served by the mansion. The property has four separate dwellings with 2 - 4 bedrooms each as well as 3.5 acres of communal land, communal spaces in the building and communal guest accommodation. We see co-operatives  and co-housing as one way to imagine life beyond capitalism and are committed to more sustainable and inclusive ways of living. We formed in October 2019.

Bodfrigan  is in a transition period, although we are constituted and have primary and secondary rules we do not yet own property. We are still working towards the freehold purchase. Bodfrigan  has an agreement with the current owners of Lodge Park, and we have five years (starting march 2021) to raise the capital needed to buy the property.
